Corps Member Spotlight: Tina Williams
When you meet Tina, there's no mistaking that local small business is one of her biggest passions. Tina left her banking career to start QT Business Solutions, which provides business and financial-planning assistance to small businesses throughout Metro Detroit. Tina meets with a wide range of small businesses daily, and is energized by the opportunity to connect them to great resources throughout the city to elevate their visibility and confidence. In fact, she seems to be bubbling over with energy at times.
With her background in banking, Tina understands how challenging it can be to secure funding to start or grow a small business. As a newly engaged Michigan Corps member, Tina learned about the ways that our Michigan Corps Kiva Detroit initiative helps support and celebrate the success of local small businesses, particularly home-based companies. She began to nominate her clients for a microloan through Kiva Detroit.
Since Kiva Detroit launched, Tina has nominated Motor Drive Landscaping and Jamboree Party Rentals for a Kiva loan. Lee Ray used his loan to purchase equipment for his lawn maintenance and snow removal services (let's hope he gets more snow next year!); Helena, who Team Kiva Detroit funded this month, is working to transition from her home location to a new indoor play facility for kids.
Tina has already nominated another busienss, who is starting the application process for a Kiva microloan. Thanks to Tina, the profile of local home-based business continues to rise with the support of our Team Kiva Detroit lenders and local volunteers. Go Tina!
