“Make in Detroit” Community Reflects and Aspires at The Henry Ford
Last week, we teamed up with The Henry Ford to host an inspiring gathering of the newly-formed "Make in Detroit" community. With its tradition of celebrating the past, present, and future of American innovation, The Henry Ford is the perfect leader of this new network of Detroiters.
Members of "Make in Detroit" range from area students to the Detroit Creative Corridor Center, from citizen "makers" to TechShop Detroit, from the organizers of Maker Faire Detroit to leaders of the Mt. Elliot Makerspace, and from long-time activists to the just-launched web platform AutoHarvest.
What do we all have in common? In our own way, we are all looking to create easy opportunities for more Detroiters to create and participate in the local advanced manufacturing sector. And we know that, together, as "Make in Detroit," we are greater than the sum of our parts.
At this session, we reflected on our individual achievements in 2011, celebrated our emerging collaborations, and looked ahead to what activities the new "Make in Detroit" community might lead together in 2012. Stay tuned! Got big ideas? Send them to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Special thanks to The Henry Ford for its leadership and to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy for helping co-found "Make in Detroit".
