Social Entrepreneurship For Returning Citizens
In a speech on crime, public safety, and justice in Flint, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder today announced that the Michigan Economic Development Corporation will partner with Michigan Corps to lead a statewide social entrepreneurship program focused on returning and vulnerable citizens.
The initiative will be included in the annual Accelerate Michigan business competition.
Michigan Corps will create a platform through which returning and vulnerable citizens will share their ideas for the kind of social entrepreneurship and social change they seek to lead and learn from. Citizens and institutions statewide will then have the opportunity to invest, nurture, and connect with these ideas.
The effort is meant to offer a new way address long-standing problems of incarceration and structural unemployment.
