Director of Strategic Initiatives
Michigan Corps is seeking a self-starting, ambitious, social change leader to help launch a new chapter in the organization's history.
The Director of Strategic Initiatives will lead all of Michigan Corps' special projects, including Kiva Detroit, Make in Detroit, and the Social Entrepreneurship Roundtable. The Director will have responsibility for Michigan Corps' operations and marketing functions and will also play a role in the growth of Michigan Corps' social network, Detroit4Detroit partnership, fundraising, and the search for a full-time Executive Director.
The Director of Strategic Initiatives will be based in Metro Detroit and report to the Chair of Michigan Corps' Board of Directors. Compensation and benefits are competitive.
Responsibilities:
* Lead partnerships with stakeholders and mobilize individuals across Detroit to ensure that Michigan Corps' Kiva Detroit initiative reaches its full potential.
* Lead early-stage partnerships with stakeholders statewide to set the stage for Kiva Michigan.
* Lead greater collaboration among members of the joint Michigan Corps - White House "Make in Detroit" community.
* Lead the development of Detroit's first Social Entrepreneurship Roundtable, a joint Michigan Corps - Public Squared initiative that constitutes a policy-focused "chamber of commerce" for social innovation leaders across sectors.
* Lead online and offline marketing, media, and PR efforts.
* Oversee the organization's administrative functions.
* Support online and offline community building, including the partnership with Citizen Effect's "Detroit4Detroit" initiative, that seek to grow the size, connectivity, and engagement of Michigan Corps' social network.
* Support the organization's fundraising efforts.
* Support the organization's search for a full-time Executive Director.
Requirements:
* Strong academic record with minimum of bachelors degree.
* Genuine experience and interest in social entrepreneurship, microfinance, public policy, and/or technology,
* Self starter with a sense of humor and the ability to thrive in an independent, fast-moving environment.
* Great communicator in person and in writing.
* Ability to manage interns, volunteers, and associates.
* Credibile experience making a difference in Michigan.
* Sincere passion for Michigan.
