Social Entrepreneurship Challenge Prize Tracks consist of the following:
1. Cash prizes ranging from $1,000 — $5,000.
2. Admission to Michigan Corps' Social Impact Investment Fellowship which includes: An investor assessment valued at $2,500, two months of investment readiness consultation services valued at $12,500, and an invitation to a live impact investor pitch, which is potentially priceless!
3. Entrepreneur support services such as legal services, work-space, training and consultation services.

2014 Prize Tracks Description & Eligibility

Mission Throttle Social Entrepreneur of the Year Prize
This prize is open to all social entrepreneurs across the state of Michigan who have created a sustainable model to address one or more of our state's social or environmental challenges. Entries must demonstrate a clear revenue model, need for investment and potential for scale. The winner will be provided a $5,000 cash grant and admission to Michigan Corps' Impact Investment Fellowship, valued at $15,000.

Consumers Energy & THAW Community Transformation Prize

This prize is open to social entrepreneurs, both for-profit and non-profit, across Michigan that demonstrate meaningful collaboration with an established business entity to transform their communities.  The prize specifically seeks innovative solutions (products, services, technologies) to move low income communities toward greater levels of self-sufficiency.  Top candidates will demonstrate strong corporate partnerships with established business entities such as financial institutions, health care institutions, utilities, etc. The winner will be provided a $5,000 cash grant and admission to Michigan Corps' Impact Investment Fellowship, valued at $15,000.
 
The PNC Social Innovation Prize
The PNC Social Innovation Prize is open to all social entrepreneurs, for-profit and non-profit, looking to launch or grow a venture in the city of Detroit.  The prize will be awarded to a social enterprise whose model demonstrates great promise to meaningfully address one or more critical social challenges within Detroit’s neighborhoods. The winner will be provided a $5,000 cash grant and admission to Michigan Corps' Impact Investment Fellowship, valued at $15,000.

Michigan Women's Foundation Prize

This prize is open to women-owned and women-led for-profit and non-profit entities at any stage of development across the state of Michigan whose business model demonstrates a business solution to an important social problem. The winner will be provided a $2,500 cash grant and admission to Michigan Corps' Impact Investment Fellowship, valued at $15,000.

Drive Flint Prize
This prize track is open to any social entrepreneur with plans to contribute to Flint's revitilization. The winner will be provided a $2,500 cash grant and admission to Michigan Corps' Impact Investment Fellowship, valued at $15,000.

St. John Providence Health System's Healthy Communities Prize
The St. John Providence Health System’s Prize track is looking to support a social entrepreneur in Detroit that has an innovative solution to a community health problem. St. John Providence Health’s current community health priorities are: infant mortality, diabetes and access to care. Successful solutions may address these priorities in a broad sense, for example diabetes may be addressed through access to healthier foods, fitness or through a disease management solution. The winner will be provided a $2,500 cash grant and admission to Michigan Corps' Impact Investment Fellowship, valued at $15,000.

Jaffe Right Start Prize

The Jaffe Right Start Prize will award a Detroit-based social entrepreneur with a complimentary review and assessment of the social enterprise by a team of Jaffe attorneys. The recommended package of legal services is uniquely tailored to ensure this winning social entrepreneur is on their best footing to move forward. This prize is valued at $5,000.

NEW Building Strong Non-Profits Prize
This prize track will award a Southeast Michigan-based, nonprofit social entrepreneur complimentary access to Board360®, an online board assessment tool designed to help nonprofit boards reach excellence, as well as a one year subscription to The BoardRoom®, an online repository of all the forms documents and policies needed to build and grow a great board. Additionally, the prize recipient will receive a complimentary four-hour board retreat (to include staff and board leaders). Note: depending on the size, scope and readiness of the enterprise, winners may also qualify for organizational development consulting and IT assessments. This prize is valued at $5,000.

TechTown Detroit Prize

TechTown Detroit will award a group of five individuals representing one or more Detroit social enterprises a one-year membership to Junction440, TechTown’s new co-working space. Winning entrepreneurs must be opening a venture in Detroit and will have access to shared desk spaces, and all the amenities provided with membership. In addition to the Junction440 Membership, TechTown will offer winners a customized consultation package from a group of expert business start-up mentors. This prize is valued at $5,000.

D:hive BUILD Social Prize
This prize track offers a Detroit-based social entrepreneur admission to D:hive’s new BUILD Social training program, alongside a suite of graphic design and brand-building services. BUILD Social guides entrepreneurs in the development of business plans and connection to funding opportunities on both local and national levels.  The prize winner will benefit from BUILD Social’s education on best practices in the field of social entrepreneurship and the support of a collaborative cohort of emerging social entrepreneurs in the city of Detroit.  This prize is valued at $2,000.

The Grand Circus Prize
This prize track offers an existing or aspiring Detroit-based social enterprise a three month membership with Grand Circus’ new co-working space, which includes 24/7 access to the space and its amenities. Co-working members also benefit from a startup suite of services provided through Grand Circus’ Google for Entrepreneurs Tech Hub. In addition, the Grand Circus Prize includes admission to a day-long seminar on building a website with wordpress. Strong candidates for this prize will demonstrate ways in which technology plays a meaningful role in creating a sustainable social impact. This prize package is valued at $1,000.
